¡¡¡¡1. SCADA (Supervisory Control And Distribution
Automation)
¡¡¡¡A PC or super-microcomputer based mater
system providing data acquisition, management,
application programs and MMI (Man-Machine
Interface). A real time redundant system
serving as a back up is a must.
¡¡¡¡2. Remote Terminal Units (RTU) and Local
Controllers
¡¡¡¡RTU monitors real time voltage, current
and complex powers, and switches' ON/OFF
status at selected critical terminals in
the system including those at sectionalized
switches, feeders, control devices, in /
out lines, distribution transformers. Local
controllers perform fault identification,
fault locating and isolation, load shedding,
feeder reconfiguration functions, ensuring
system safety and reliability.
¡¡¡¡3. Communication Systems
¡¡¡¡Communication infrastructure provides
the backbone for reliable data transferring.
Real-time data and control command flow
through redundant information pipes on a
continuous basis, depicting normal and abnormal
operating conditions. Highly reliable information
combined with advanced network applications
aid operators in making critical operating
decisions and performing remedial actions
during contingency. Pre and post-contingency
data offer the re-construction of sequence
of events (SOE), aiding system analysis
for improved system implementation. Data
transmitted to the SCADA master station
allow system operators to monitor, control
and operating the system in optimal configurations.
Robust real-time communication configurations
with sufficient redundancy necessitate a
successful DA implementation.
